On 5 December, several of our esteemed Birdiya Panel Members proudly participated in the Midland March That Matters, standing alongside community to raise their voices against Family and Domestic Violence.
We honour and acknowledge Aunties Janine Gliddon, Brenda Larsen and Carrol Johns, who walked at the front of the mob behind the Police Pipe Band — a powerful and dignified presence symbolising leadership, cultural strength, and the unwavering commitment of our Elders to keeping families and community safe.
Their participation reminds us that healing, safety and change must be community-led, grounded in culture, and upheld by those who carry deep wisdom and responsibility.
We also extend our appreciation to the organisers of the event, convened by the Swan Family & Domestic Violence Network, for bringing community together to stand in solidarity and shine a light on the urgent need to prevent violence in all its forms.
Karlup Aboriginal Corporation is proud to support our Birdiya Panel Members as they continue to guide, influence and advocate for safer futures for our families.
Together, we stand strong. Together, we say: no more violence.
